Well, it's no longer just Jack's blog. Going to have to change the name! :)
As you all know, Chase Milo Eardley came into the world on Thursday, August 4th at 11:55am. He was a week early and was very fast in his arrival!
The somewhat graphic story if you are up for it:
My water broke at 2am on Thursday, we called my parents to come take care of Jackalope, and were at the hospital by 5am. I was only having a few random contractions so at 8:30am they put me on a Pitocin drip to speed up the contractions. The midwife said she'd be back around noon to see if I had reached 4 cm (the point at which you can get an epidural). By 11:00am I was dying with contractions - they were very strong and non-stop. The nurse checked me at 11:30 and I was already at 5-6cm. Within the next five minutes, I some how went from that 5-6cm to 10 cm and was basically pushing with no midwife/Dr/anesthesiologist. The nurse called for everyone and people came running. It was too late for an epidural, and Chase was born less than 10 minutes later at 11:55am. Luckily, he was a little smaller than Jack at 8lbs 15 oz (maybe because he was a week early). When he came out, he had the cord wrapped very tightly around his throat and it actually broke as he was coming out. I had another hemorrhage - although they were better prepared to deal with it this time. The pediatrician said he had never seen or heard or a cord breaking and the midwife said that in 25 years she had never seen anyone become dilated so quickly - so we are breaking all kinds of records around here! We are all home now and thankful that we are all doing well and feeling pretty good. We are also thankful to my parents for taking good care of Jack for 3 days! Chase is a super sweet little man with his brother's red hair. Here are some pics from the hospital (including my favorite of "Surprised Aly!").
Congratulations Aly and Mike! He looks great...
