We have been working on mock-finishing our basement to make a playroom for Jack - space to run around during the winter mostly. We put foam mats on the floors, painted the concrete walls white, and put fabric on the ceiling. Voila! Playroom! :)
This reminds me of our house in Boston (1982-3, just before we moved to Santa Barbara. Lisa set up a playroom for Matt and Leah (ages 2-3). The dress-up area was a big hit with lots of fantasy play. My big fear was that M or L wold tumble down the steep steps, but a baby grip on the door going down off the hallway fixed that. Still, there were two of them scrambling down (and me) at the same time. Mike (age 6-7) was too into playing outside riding his bike, playing with Kevin (the next street over), the Russian kid a few doors down, but mostly with Clay. Clay's mom had to drive him over, or I drove Mike over. By second grade, it was Friday night sleep-over at Clay's and Saturday night at our house. Many fun times...
That looks great Aly! Good for you for thinking about space for toddlers to run around in the winter. :)
